  • The SOCIMI continues to advance its ESG strategy with new BREEAM certifications in 2024, highlighting that 100% of its shopping centers now hold this prestigious environmental seal

Madrid, April 24, 2025 – SILICIUS Real Estate, a SOCIMI specialized in the long-term management of real estate assets with stable rents, is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability by reaching 46% of the value of its portfolio certified under the BREEAM standard (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology), one of the most internationally recognized environmental assessment methods for buildings.

Throughout 2024, several assets have either obtained or renewed this certification in the “In-Use” category, standing out for their energy efficiency, sustainable management, and user well-being.

Newly certified properties include:

  • Thader Shopping Center (Murcia): renewed with a “Very Good” rating
  • Bahía Plaza Shopping Center (Cádiz): “Very Good” rating
  • Bioma Building – Square Garden (Rivas-Vaciamadrid): “Good” rating
  • Hotel Albéniz (Madrid): “Good” rating
  • Teatro Albéniz (Madrid): “Good” rating

With these additions, 100% of SILICIUS’ shopping centers now have valid BREEAM certification, consolidating the SOCIMI’s strong commitment to responsible and environmentally respectful management.

According to Yann Chretien, Head of General Services at SILICIUS, “These certifications reflect our ongoing work to integrate ESG criteria into the management of our assets, increasing the long-term value of our portfolio and generating a positive impact in the areas where we operate.”

SILICIUS continues to work toward expanding the number of certified properties in the coming years, in line with its sustainability strategy and commitment to efficiency, quality, and user well-being.

In 2024, the SOCIMI also took a major step in sustainability with the publication of its first Sustainability Report, which received a Gold Award from EPRA (European Public Real Estate Association) under the Best Practices Recommendations (BPR) category. The report also received the ‘Most Improved Award’, recognizing companies that have significantly improved their compliance with EPRA BPR reporting guidelines. Additionally, the report earned a Silver Mention in the Sustainability Best Practices Recommendations (sBPR) category.
