ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CARBON FOOTPRINT

LGAI Technological Center, S.A. (Applus+) certifies that Silicius’ Carbon Footprint has been verified for the assessment of greenhouse gas emissions and the conformity of the calculation in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 14064-1:2019 standard. The verification covers Category 1: direct emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels and refrigerant gas leaks; Category 2: indirect emissions from electricity consumption; Category 3: indirect emissions from employee commuting and business travel; Category 4: indirect emissions generated by waste, outsourced services, and electricity transmission losses; and Category 5: indirect emissions associated with assets leased to third parties. This verification corresponds to the 2024 reporting period and results in a total of 11,073.31 t CO₂e calculated.

Applus+ has certified that Silicius has conducted a thorough assessment of its carbon footprint, covering all relevant scopes (1-5) as defined in the ISO 14064-1:2019 standard. The assessment includes direct emissions from fuel combustion and refrigerant leakage (Scope 1), indirect emissions from purchased electricity (Scope 2), and indirect emissions from the value chain, including employee travel, waste generation, and leased assets (Scopes 3-5). The calculated total carbon footprint for 2023 is 1,168.31 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

ASSETS FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

As a demonstration of its commitment to sustainability, SILICIUS continues to develop the “Assets for a Sustainable Future” project, an initiative focused on environmental protection through a collaborative reforestation program. This program promotes the creation of new green spaces and strengthens a spirit of participation among stakeholders linked to SILICIUS’ activity, within an educational and awareness-raising framework.

In 2024, SILICIUS made further progress in this initiative by planting 1.500 trees in the Los Alcornocales Natural Park (Cádiz), adding to the 3.000 trees planted in 2022 and 2023 in the same area, which is considered the largest cork oak forest in the world. These actions involved more than 300 students from local schools, who took part in environmental awareness workshops, reinforcing the collective commitment to a more sustainable future.

WELLBEING IN OUR ASSETS

All Silicius assets comply with current accessibility regulations, ensuring that any person, regardless of their abilities, can fully enjoy the spaces and services offered by the buildings.

As part of its commitment to universal accessibility, Silicius maintains its agreement with the Foundation for Accessibility and Social Responsibility (ARS) to assess and certify its shopping centres in accordance with the AIS 1/2018 standard. In addition, the company collaborates with EQA to advance the progressive implementation of the UNE-ISO 170001 standard, with the goal of achieving certification across all its shopping centres by 2026. Accessibility is therefore integrated as a key pillar of the company’s social responsibility.
