Madrid, December 21, 2022. SILICIUS Real Estate, a SOCIMI specialized in the management of long-term properties with stable income, has planted during the days 20 and 21 of December a total of 1,500 trees in Los Alcornocales Natural Park (Cádiz), a protected area that constitutes the largest forest mass of this species in the world. This action is part of the collaborative reforestation program ‘Active for a sustainable future’ that the SOCIMI presented in mid-2022.
With this plantation, which SILICIUS has promoted together with its Bahía Plaza Shopping Centre, and in collaboration with the Council of Los Barrios (Cádiz), the SOCIMI thus launches its collaborative reforestation program with which it aims to promote the generation of more green areas in the different points of the Spanish geography where it has a presence and develops its activity, thus contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint.
In addition, this action has also had an educational purpose. And it is that 300 students of 1st course of secondary education of the Carlos Cano and Sierra Luna educational centres, both located in Los Barrios, have also participated in it. The students were shown the environmental benefits of trees and forests to ensure a more sustainable future. In addition to collaborating with the plantation, this group of schoolchildren has participated in different awareness-raising activities that Bahía Plaza has organized in Los Alcornocales Natural Park, and that will be extended to the facilities of the shopping centre to bring this initiative closer to the rest of visitors.
