• The SOCIMI (Spanish REIT) organizes thematic conferences in its three shopping centres, La Fira (Reus), Bahía Plaza (Cádiz) and Thader (Murcia), to promote the reception and responsible adoption of animals

Madrid, March 1, 2023. SILICIUS Real Estate, SOCIMI specialized in the management of long-term properties with stable rents, has reaffirmed its commitment to animal welfare by holding an awareness day during this past weekend in its shopping centres -together with animal shelters and associations-, which has included activities aimed at promoting the responsible shelter and adoption, as well as encouraging the coexistence of animals and people in the commercial environment.

These actions that have been carried out in the shopping centres La Fira (Reus), Bahía Plaza (Cádiz) and Thader (Murcia) start with a long-term commitment focused on defining protocols that seek animal welfare and coexistence in all SILICIUS shopping centres.

At La Fira, the “Animal Day: III Day of Shelter and Adoption” was held for the third consecutive year. The shopping centre has organized a day around pets offering a Solidarity Market of local protectors, animated characters, agility exhibitions, a truffle hunting training exhibition, a dog parade with more than 30 participants, children’s workshops, face painting, pet photocall and workshops with the rescuer @RevoluciónPata and the user of a guide dog. In total, more than 9 hours of activities in different outdoor and indoor spaces.

In Bahía Plaza different activities have been scheduled for animal lovers under the slogan ‘My pet, my family’, being the first year that this initiative was promoted. Among them, a canine skills competition and a pet costume competition. In addition, the shopping centre has welcomed in its facilities the animal shelters of Los Barrios SOS PPP and SOS Perrera, to submit their projects and provide information on the animals in foster status currently which were looking for a new home with the aim of promoting responsible adoption.

In Murcia, for its part, the Thader shopping centre has welcomed in its facilities the Animal Shelter of Molina de Segura and some of their animals, so that all those interested could adopt one of these pets right there. In addition, framed within this day, they have organized an awareness talk on the care of pets taught by a local veterinarian.
